Edmonton, since 2014
We only do the outside of buildings.
That narrowness is the point. Exterior walls in Alberta fail for a small number of predictable reasons, and a crew that sees them every week catches them.
Alex-IF Installation trades as CustomExterior and works out of 7276 Terwillegar Dr S NW in southwest Edmonton. We are a small, deliberately unscaled operation: the people who start your house are the people who finish it.
We strip cladding rather than covering it, we photograph the open sheathing and send you those photographs, and we price repairs before the wall closes. It is slower than the alternative and it is why our final invoices match our quotes.
We carry $5M general liability and active WCB clearance, and we send both certificates with every quote without being asked.

Meet the owner
Alex still climbs the scaffold.
Alex-IF Installation exists because too many Edmonton homeowners were sold a wall they were never allowed to see.
Alex learned this trade the long way — labouring on production siding crews where the job was measured in houses per week, not in details done right. He watched cladding go over soft sheathing, watched flashing get skipped where nobody would ever look, and watched homeowners sign off on work they had no way to inspect.
He started Alex-IF Installation to run it the opposite way: one project at a time, the wall opened up and photographed, the price fixed in writing, and the owner on site with a level in his hand. In Alberta, an exterior either sheds water for thirty winters or it quietly fails behind paint. There is no third outcome, and there is no shortcut that survives a freeze-thaw cycle.
A decade later that has not changed. Alex answers the phone, walks your elevation, writes the scope, and is on site for the work — because the fastest way to protect a reputation in this city is to never hand it to somebody else.
“If I would not accept it on my own house, it does not go on yours. That is the whole standard.”
What Alex guarantees personally
Four commitments that survive a bad week.
Every one of these is checkable by you, on your property, before the wall closes.

- 01
Alex measures your house himself
No commissioned salesperson, no subcontracted estimator. The person who prices the job is the person accountable for building it.
- 02
One crew, start to finish
We run a single project at a time per crew. The faces you meet on day one are the faces on the day we pull the scaffolding down.
- 03
Photographs of the open wall
Before anything closes, you get dated photos of sheathing, flashing and membrane — so you can verify what you paid for, not just take our word.
- 04
The quote is the invoice
Fixed written pricing. If we find rot or bad framing behind the old cladding, you see the photo and the price before we touch it.
- $5M general liability
- Certificate sent with every quote
- Active WCB clearance
- Verifiable before we start
- 2014–present
- Edmonton and surrounding area only
- Workmanship warranty
- In writing, alongside manufacturer coverage
Meet the crew
The same four people, every winter.
Exterior work is trade knowledge held in people, not in a company name. Ours have stayed — which is why the fifth house looks like the four hundredth.

Small on purpose
We turn down work rather than stretch a crew thin. It costs us volume and buys you a finished wall that does not need a callback.
Local only
Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park and area. Close enough that if something needs looking at in year three, Alex drives over.
Clean site, daily
Offcuts and fasteners magnet-swept before we leave each evening. Your driveway stays usable and your lawn survives the job.
Our process
Nothing here is a surprise.
01
On-site measure
Forty-five minutes at your property. We measure, photograph every elevation, check soffit venting and look for the things that turn into change orders later.
02
Fixed written price
An itemised scope with a single number, usually within three business days. Repair allowances are stated up front rather than discovered later.
03
Materials and samples
Physical samples left on your wall for a few days. Nothing is ordered until you have seen the colour in Alberta light, at your house.
04
Strip and inspect
Old cladding comes off, the wall gets photographed, and you see those photos before anything closes it back up.
05
Install
New water-resistive barrier, taped penetrations, vented rainscreen, then cladding set to laser lines. One crew, start to finish.
06
Walkthrough and warranty
We walk the whole exterior with you, fix anything on the list that day, and leave written warranty documentation and care notes.
Reviews
What clients actually say.
“We got four quotes. Theirs wasn't the cheapest and it was the only one that said what would happen if they found rot. They found rot. The price moved by exactly what they'd written down.”
“The cedar entry wall is the thing everyone comments on. The spacing is perfect all the way up — you can see it was set out rather than winged.”
“Eleven days, and the site was swept every single evening. Our neighbour hired them off the back of watching how they worked.”
“They re-clad our frontage over two weekends so we never closed a single day. Property manager has used them twice since.”
