St. Albert has two very different exterior problems in one city: a large stock of 1970s and 80s homes now well past the life of their original cladding, and a growing set of Sturgeon Valley custom builds where the finish detailing has to be exact.
Braeside, Akinsdale and Forest Lawn are full of original cedar and early vinyl that has reached the end of its service life. These are our most common St. Albert re-clads.
Sturgeon Valley acreages and estate lots have long, exposed elevations that catch full prairie wind. Fastening patterns and panel selection matter more here than in a sheltered subdivision.
Many St. Albert homes were built before rainscreen practice was common. Opening the wall is the only honest way to know what you are dealing with.
Mature trees across the older neighbourhoods mean debris in eavestrough is a genuine issue here, unlike in newer communities.
