Hardie Board Siding
Fibre cement is the right material for Alberta because it does not chalk, warp or soften through a −35 °C January and a +30 °C July. What separates a good install from a bad one is everything behind the board: the water-resistive barrier, the fastening pattern, the clearances, and the joint flashing.
We strip back to sheathing rather than cladding over top of old siding. It is slower, and it is the only way to see what the wall is actually doing.
Every wall gets a new water-resistive barrier, taped penetrations and a vented rainscreen cavity so any moisture that gets past the board can drain and dry.
Reveals are set from a laser line, not from the previous course. Window heads, corner boards and soffit lines are aligned before the first board is fastened.
Why it matters
Fibre cement does not expand and contract like vinyl, so joints stay tight through Edmonton's 65-degree annual temperature swing.
Correct blind-nailing, 6 mm clearances at flashings and roof lines, and joint flashing behind every butt joint. That spec is what keeps the warranty intact.
ColorPlus factory finish is baked on, not rolled on. No repainting every six years, and no chalky residue running down the trim.
Non-combustible board with a Class 1(A) flame spread rating and hail performance that matters on the prairies.
